A love of colour, pattern, textures, and natural forms combined with luxury natural fabrics are Lizzie’s greatest inspiration. She creates ‘one off’ jackets, hats, scarves, cushions and other decorative items, incorporating her printing, dyeing and machine embroidery skills.

sells her Wearable Art throughout the UK and Europe.
Lizzie Houghton trained as a Fashion Designer, has a City and Guilds qualification in Creative embroidery. She mostly works with felt making
these days and runs her own workshops in feltmaking and dyeing from her studio in Penzance,Cornwall, where she has recently moved to from East London.
She is sometimes available to teach at other venues about the country. In July 2010, Lizzie made her first teaching trip to USA to the Midwest Felting Symposium.
Since then she has taught in Denmark, Australia and New Zealand and organised and run a Summer School in the South of France.

The summer school is being held in the Community Centre in Marazion, near Penzance, Cornwall. The emphasis will be on dyeing silk chiffon, silk habotai and merino wool fibres, to make either a jacket, a sweater, a tunic or a dress. Students should have experience of making nuno felt, as this is a master class. Using both dip dyeing and possibly shibori [tied resist dyeing] techniques, students will construct, by piecing and layering, beautiful textured garments. Lizzie will instruct and reveal her methods of creating garments.

Cornwall open Studios 2017
My studio will be open on 27th,28th 29th May and 1st,2nd, 3rd June from 11am until 5pm each day.
David Puddifoot ‘s studio, showing sculpture, paintings and drawings will also be open at the same address.
