Felting Fashion

My new book was published in May 2009 and has received excellent reviews. It guides the beginner through the simple processes of making felt jewellery and embellishing felt with fabrics to make sumptuous surfaces. For the more experienced felt-maker there are 3-dimensional projects making hats and guiding you through the processes of making seamless garments.Emphasis is put on inspiration and designing your own fabulous jacket or accessory. Patterns and measurements are given as guidance. Felting Fashion is £18.99 and available from me. PP to the UK is £3.00

Summer School in Cornwall August 2010

The summer school is being held near Penzance from 24th-28th August The emphasis will be on dyeing silk chiffon, habotai and other qualities of fabric and wool fibres, using both dip dyeing and shibori [tied resist dyeing] techniques, to create, by piecing and layering, beautiful textured clothing and accessories. Lizzie will instruct and reveal her methods of creating garments.

Midweek there will be a workshop led by Sue Dove, the renowned textile artist, [see her book Painting with Stitches] entitled Artwork for Textiles. Using collage, paint and oil pastels, a simple exercise will be explored, that produces exciting and surprising abstract images. These techniques will then be applied to your own source ideas, exploring and expanding ways to extend your textile work.

The course fee is £285 and will include some silk fabrics and fibres, lunches and an evening social buffet.

Please contact Lizzie for booking and further information.
